The Year 2000 Photo Countdown is an alliance between Everything 2000 and the Millennium Picture Group, a nationwide partnership of photojournalists. Each weekday, the Everything 2000 Web site will feature a new image documenting how people and institutions are preparing for year 2000.

New York City has always played host to some of the largest New Year's Eve parties in the world. In 1940, the International Casino was the setting for one of those parties. The Casino is long gone, but the mega-parties have stopped. In the same spirit as the International Casino's party, the Jacob Javits Center will host the largest New Year's Eve party in New York City with thousands of guests paying hundreds of dollars for tickets to several superstar entertainers and eat gourmet food.
