STORY:
Britain Searches for Millennium Winners
Four winning lottery tickets worth a million pounds have not been picked
up
Millennium celebrations may prove costly for four unsuspecting millionaires
who have yet to pick up their prizes from the two lottery draws held on
New Years Eve. People have until June 29 to claim their winnings before
the money is handed over to a charity fund.
Two pounds 1 million tickets from the New Year's Eve Big Draw remain unclaimed,
together with two tickets worth pounds 1.17 million from the New Year's
Day draw. The winning numbers were picked by players who bought their
tickets in Cumbria, Bolton, Hants and Northants.
Camelot, the lottery organizers are urging people to check any old lottery
tickets they might find during spring-cleaning just in case the slips
of paper are worth a fortune. Three pounds 1 million-plus prizes have
been left unclaimed in the lottery's six-year history. Camelot estimates
that each mystery ticket holder has already lost about pounds 16,000 in
interest.
